They Don't Care About Us.
I don't know who he thinks he's making America great for... But it ain't us.
At the moment I'm writing this, 27 people have died in a flash flood in Texas, including ten children. Twenty three little girls, who were away at camp, are still missing and presumed dead. The parents have posted pictures of their adorable little blonde faces. As a mother and a grandmother, it breaks my heart to think of them, alone and afraid.
God bless those little girls. God bless all those people and their families.
It might not be the right time to talk about it, but this does have to do with ICE. Money that was earmarked for flood warning systems was shifted to Immigration enforcement. Actions have consequences.
On May 17 of this year, 8-year-old Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died after being detained for eight days in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody. At least five other children have died in ICE custody. And tens of thousands have been separated from their families.
This isn't about politics. I don't care who you voted for. It isn't about what party you think is right or wrong. I don't care what Biden did. Or George W Bush. I'm only concerned about one thing.
They don't care about us.
There is no FEMA anymore. Your congress voted it out of the budget. Along with the National Weather Service and NOAA, which could have saved lives, right there in Texas. I'm not trying to be political. But a government that will allow a child to die alone in a cage, will allow them to die alone on a riverbank.
I've been told I have Trump derangement syndrome or a bad case of the poor me's. But this is not about Donald Trump. I don't care about him one way or another. It's about those twenty seven people who died in Texas, because this administration moved all our tax money into stealing people off the streets. It's about the fact that millions of people are going to be taken off their healthcare, maybe you, maybe someone in your family, and the people who will die because of it.
And it's about the little girl who died in detention, because her family had the audacity to try to make a better life in America.
It's about the fact that he promised to make America great. But he only made it great for the wealthy. So no, not poor me. Poor you. Poor us. Literally.
This is a terrible time and a terrible thing that happened. But if there's a way to make it not happen again, I think we need to talk about it now, not later. There isn't going to be enough money for everything, folks, because those billionaires who funded his campaign had to get a tax break. And these are the kind of things that are not going to get paid for. Things that could save lives. Our lives. AMERICAN lives.
But instead of caring about Americans, brown and blonde, this administration is tearing our families apart, and literally putting all of our lives at risk.
I don't know who he thinks he's making America great for... But it ain't us.
It is a terrible horrible day for these people
